We are the small people and started similar education programme mainly for those who can not afford education, mentally retarted and physically handicap children under the name SHRI CHINTAMANRAO SHRIDHAR KELKAR HIGH SCHOOL, at Alibag, Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra. Shri Raja Kelkar Alisa Indirakant Chintaman Kelkar (Former President of B.U.J. and Former Chairman of Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh) and Shri Appa Kelkar alias Sharadchandra Chintaman Kelkar have given 2.5 acre land to School. At the outset, special thanks, for sparing your valuable time, to give us a patient hearing. As you are aware; everybody claims that we have progressed by leaps and bounds in the last couple of decades. Electronics has done wonders to out communication – at touch of a button. A poor illiterate mother can talk to her pardesi beta/bahu, or with the help of the internet, and one can virtually have access to any information, even in the remotest of places. Yes, we agree that this is possible today. But for us to fully exploit this for furthering our own country is it not necessary for everyone to be Educated? We believe that a lot of work has to be done on this front, more in rural settings, because there is a real dearth of good Education here. Though, on one hand we claim that 70% of population resides in the villages of India, not even 10% of out professionals are represented by this class. Why is this so? None of the professionals residing in the cities even venture to set their foot in rural soil, for the fear, of being responsible in a way, of not offering their progeny the same or better basic Educational facilities as they are clearly lacking in this setting. We are therefore decided to try & change things here. We have decided to start a school, A SCHOOL WITH A DIFFERENCE! And what is this difference? Having taught our students young, we will not ensure quality academic progress, but will be looking out for different talents in them, & helping them developing these. We will provide facilities for sports, both indoor & outdoor, art, Public speaking, music, dance and dramatics. In addition, we will run a SEPARATE SECTION FOR THE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED AND MENTALLY RETARTED CHILDREN as well. We already have psychiatrist, a counselor, a physiotherapist, a pediatrician, an ophthalmologist, a dietician, who will be interacting with the children on regular basis. Thus we will be ensuring good mental & physical development of the children as well. Our difference is therefore well defined. We know that sky is the limit, so we dream big, but plan only tangible targets. You will certainly want to know how we plan to go about it all. To start with we have got 2.5 acres of land to us by a philanthropical family THE KELKARS from Alibag. Land is therefore no problem. We have already started Pre-Primary School for Junior and Senior K. G. Classes at Alibag. The Trust is Registered in the year 1998 at Alibag, having its registration No. E/312 (Raigad). We have been helping especially girls who cannot complete their Education as their parents can not afford to spend on tuitions fees, uniform, Books and exerciase books and other incidental expenses to attend the school and college. Shri Amar Warde is the Chairman of our Trust. He is graduate and a Journalist represents P. T. I. for the District. He was on working committee of Janata Shikshan Mandal. He is one of the founder member of Nanasaheb Kunte Technical school, He was connected with 5 High Schools in Raigad district on behalf of the Indian Education Society, Mumbai. Thus Chairman of our Trust has wide experience in educational activities. Dr. Rajiv Dhamankar, an eminent children specialist who runs a Hospital, is another trustee. In all there are four trustees including me and Shri Nityanand Kamath a businessman is also a Trustee. Our project will cost about Rupees One Crore & Fifty lacs. The built u area is 20,000 sq. ft. The Necessary N. A. Permission is granted on 27/01/2004. We have a Income tax exemption certificate U/s. 80G Our biggest hurdles is collecting finances to set up this project; hence we are here to explain to you the need for donation to a worthy cause. There are many times you feel go owe something to society, only you are not sure how to go about it. You are skeptical about being swindled or are not so sure the cause is authentic.
